The Magline is a high-speed subterranean transportation network serving the London and South East regions of the United Kingdom. Commissioned by TransLon in 2157, Griffin Technologies began construction in 2160 with the first trains operating from 2180. Magline is joint owned by Griffin technologies (50%) and TransLon (50%).
As of 2287 the Magline network serves 649 stations. More are anticipated as London continues to expand. The growth of the network has come in waves since the initial construction, as civil unrest and political ambition have fluctuated.
Using artificial intelligence and automation, the Magline is a technological marvel and is considered one of the modern wonders of the World. Through the use of magnets, Magline’s speed around the London network makes it almost impossible for humans to operate. There have only been a few times human assistance has been required to drive trains along the network. During these periods the Magline runs at a reduced speed.
The system makes use of three sections, each at a different depth. Level one is closest to the surface and runs the slowest trains. As a result, it is able to serve almost all stations across the network. Levels two and three are both situated at greater depth, with each level serving less stations than the one before it. This allows level three to run the fastest trains. Key stations along the network exist on all three levels allowing people to switch between the fast and slow sections.

Plans exist to extend the Magline transport service across the entirety of the United Kingdom. However, to date, there has been no formal proposal made.
