9.0 – Kentish and Jax

Year: 2287

Kentish

Kentish was close to where he had stolen the watch. All he had to do was find a secluded yet accessible alley to hide it. He spied a narrow alley squashed between an Indian takeaway and a Suds Launderette. It was the perfect location and probably only used by the companies to store their bins, and the occasional tramp, but it seemed empty today.

Jax

Jax kept tracking the watch as she walked to its location. She was a bit perplexed at the route the person was taking and wondered why they were returning so close to where it had been stolen in the first place. Her initial guess was they had stolen it, panicked and felt the need to run further away to try and lose her. Now they needed to come back to the area they lived. She was closing in on them though and would, hopefully, soon have her watch back.

During the entire evening’s events she kept one thought in the back of her mind – tomorrow’s work was going to be a struggle. Maybe she could call a sickie, it wasn’t something she usually did, but she also didn’t make a habit of spending her nights out late walking around town.

Kentish

Kentish found a location for the watch. He carefully wrapped it up in some plastic bags and then placed it behind a bin with a piece of cardboard covering it. If he kept it protected from the weather he could come back daily and see if the watch had gone, if it was still there in a weeks’ time it probably has no tracker and he was safe to take it again. He wouldn’t tell Highbury this time.

He was going to head straight back to the warehouse, but something kept him there. He was interested to see if anyone would arrive to claim it tonight. He’d certainly be disappointed if he came back the next day and it had gone.

Kentish moved to the opposite side of the street and decided to hide under the porch of a large house. He thought he was quite well concealed with a few plants in front of him, plus there was a small seat he could use. He set himself up behind the plants and waited to see if anyone would arrive.

Jax

When Jax had stepped onto the street where the watch was presumably located it had stopped moving. She assumed the person had made it back to their house, but she decided to scout down the road first trying not to draw too much attention. She didn’t want to let anyone know that she was searching.

As she walked further down the road, she drew closer to where the watch was. She realised it was down the alley between the two shops. Casually, she looked around. The alley was empty, but she spotted something unusual on the other side of the road. Somebody was perched on the porch of a house looking in her direction. So as not to draw suspicion, Jax kept walking. Once she got to the end of the road, she crossed over, turned back and decided to sneak up on whoever had been watching her.
